Runner Extraordinaire, Running History 20Years +, Drinking History even longer.
Carl Baker has achieved more than most, his running C.V speaks volumes.
Three Marathons in 3 days achieved by Carl baker in October 2006
In my five years at Peel Road Runners I have continuously looked up towards Carl Baker along with several other Peelers for inspiration, commitment and shear minded determination. Whilst other current Peel Road Runners come close to these categories, Carl Baker, in my opinion comes out on top, being able, even at age 44 to run regular sub 3hour marathons, sub 1.25 hr half marathons and sub 40 minute 10k's.
A veteran of nearly 80 marathons, Carl prefers distance events and excels at The Marathon. In 2006 Carl along with 4 other Peelers completed 3 Marathons in 3 days in 3 Different Countries!!
Speaking to Carl after the events, Carl was the first to admit that the 3 marathons in 3 days was easy to achieve!!. The hard part was putting in the training months and months prior to the event, getting up at 6am on weekends and putting in 30 mile runs over Cannock chase, The Clent Hills and other gruelling parts on Staffordshire. However all the training paid off and Carl completed the first of the 3 marathons on Saturday 28th October 2006. This event was not the run of the mill marathon either, it was The Beachy Head Marathon, which takes in the coast paths around Sussex. Carl finished 48th in 3hrs and 47 minutes, a mean achievement for someone who had 2 more marathons to finish over the next 2 days!
Travelling to North Wales, the next Marathon on Sunday 29th October2006 saw Carl complete the tough Snowdonia Marathon in North Wales in an awesome time of 3hrs 32minutes. Carl is shown below jubilant after his completion of the Snowdonia Marathon. 2 down one to go!!
Across the Irish Sea now to Dun Laoghaire via Holyhead on the Stenaline Ferry. Time for a nap on the way and recharge the batteries for Mondays Dublin City Marathon 2006?
Below are Carl, left and fellow Runner Dave Quinn celebrating after completing their 2nd Marathon.
Monday 30th October 2006 sees Carl complete his 3rd Marathon in as many days in another typical Baker time of 3hrs 22minutes. Most people would be glad to complete just one marathon in this time! Just a matter of waiting for the 3 other Peelers to complete the event and then off for some well earned Black Stuff!!
Carl Baker and Dave Quinn in Dublin after completing 3 marathons in 3 Days- Well Done

Carl is a gifted runner and someone you would always want on your team. He gives his all no matter whether it be running, drinking or work!! The man is a legend at Peel Road Runners and has immense knowledge on running related events. I am just wondering when he is going to start to slow down??
