West Highland Way Foot Race 95 Miles
Having found myself enjoying running (sick eh?!) and discovering that my running was more suited to longer distances where my high levels of stamina came to the forefront, along with the discovery that I am a pretty much a fearless (or stupid) downhill runner, and the rougher the terrain gets, the more I tend to leave people falling further and further behind, the way forward was beginning to take shape for me.
Long distance off road events were pretty much the way to go for me to do quite well, and I started to investigate these more.
During the course of my investigation I came across the West Highland Way Race, one of the very hardest footraces about, considered by quite a few of those in the know to rank amongst the hardest races in the world. If this wouldn’t push me to my absolute limits then nothing would. It also takes place in the Highlands of Scotland, a magical place I have visited a few times before.
My race report details how my running began to develop, some of the events during my very grueling training program, and goes on to report on the race and the final outcome. It’s quite a long report (sorry!) but a lot happened along the way.
People do seem to enjoy reading the report though, I’ve had some good feedback – hope you enjoy it too
